Biography
Debarshi Dutta is a partner of Solaris Legal, based in New Delhi. He focuses on litigation, arbitration, alternative dispute resolution and contentious advisory work, acting for domestic and foreign corporations in complex commercial disputes.
He acts for project owners, institutional investors, project sponsors, developers, contractors and sub-contractors, financiers, consultants and suppliers, and for government owned and private insurers, engineering and construction firms, companies in the energy, oil and gas and shipping sectors, banks and financial institutions and public sector undertakings. Alongside dispute resolution he practises insolvency and bankruptcy law — acting for financial and operational creditors, resolution professionals and resolution applicants — together with shareholder disputes, corporate restructuring, white collar crime and investigations, and employment law. He also advises directors and officers on civil and criminal liability exposure arising in the course of their corporate responsibilities.
He appears before the Supreme Court of India, the High Courts, the National Company Law Tribunal and the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal, and before regulators, tribunals and arbitral tribunals in India and abroad. He is also appointed by the courts as a Receiver in arbitration matters and as a Commissioner to record evidence in contentious suits. He has been in practice since 2006.
